From handbags to glad rags – the must-see moments of Melbourne Fashion Festival
01 March 2017
Virgin Australia’s Melbourne Fashion Festival struts back into town today (1 March), showcasing the unique talent of the Australian fashion industry in some of Melbourne’s iconic venues, laneways, parks and streets.
More than fifty events will be had over the twenty-day period, featuring established and emerging designers, state-of-the-art production, beauty workshops, retail events, industry seminars and live entertainment.
To help you make the most of the festival, we’ve picked out 2017’s must do activities
1. Fashion Film Popcorn Screening
Thursday 2 March 2017
Federation Square
This free event will give you a chance to kick back and relax with a drink and a free bucket of popcorn to celebrate the best fashion films of the year. Both international and Australian films will be featured, with the Festival’s judges crowning the best film at the end of the evening.

Sketch Runway is not your typical fashion event. Providing insights into the intrinsic relationships between the creative ideas that go on behind the scenes in the design world, the show will follow the entirety of the creative process, from idea to execution, and is put on by the students and alumni from the Academy of Design.
