What to eat, drink and see in Melbourne this October

The warm weather is approaching and Spring has officially sprung! As we approach the summer months, Melbourne will be blooming with special events and exhibitions for everyone to enjoy. To help you organise and plan your weekends, we have compiled a few must-visit events this October to help you make the most of this amazing city!

1. New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) at The National Gallery of Victoria

Calling all art enthusiasts – this event is for you. The National Gallery of Victoria has partnered with the Museum of Modern Art, New York, to celebrate 130 years of modern and contemporary art. The exhibition will hold an iconic collection of more than 200 masterpieces by Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, Vincent van Gogh and Frida Kahlo, to name a few.

Date: Saturday 22 September to Sunday 7 October

Time: 10:00am- 5:00pm

Location: The National Gallery of Victoria, just over a 10-minute walk from the T&G Building

2. City Cellar Door and Wine Market

Fancy yourself a personal wine connoisseur? Cumulus Up will be hosting the City Cellar Door and Wine Market the first Saturday of the month. Since August, the event has featured a different wine region in Victoria with October dedicated to sparkling wines. Cumulus Up has also invited expert chefs to cook tasty pork rolls to match perfectly with the bubbles. And the best part? All proceeds go to OzHarvest.

3. Say Cheese Festival

Cheese lovers, it’s your time to shine because the annual Say Cheese Festival at the Prahan Markets is back! Spend the day eating a variety of delicious cheeses from market traders and external exhibitors whilst enjoying live tunes, tasty drinks and relaxation areas.

Date: Sunday 28 October

Time: 10:00am- 4:00pm

Location: Prahan Markets, South Yarra, just 15 minutes from the T&G Building

Cost: Free

4. Tesselaar Tulip Festival

Treat yourself and get away from the city for the weekend to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Just an hour out of Melbourne, this year’s festival is themed Tulips in Wonderland, featuring almost a million colourful tulips on display. Enjoy live entertainment, delicious food and games as you embrace a weekend of flowery goodness.
